Solitude

I just wanted to share this beauty of a Maine sunset with you. The backlit clouds and their reflection on the lake surface were just glorious!

I love being in a place where the fabric of the land is not torn and tattered, where the Earth's skin is still (relatively) healthy and brimming with life. No litter, no crowds, no noise: just the gentle wind on your face, reflections silver on the smooth water, and a panorama of the heavens unfolding on the twilit sky. You can have a sense of yourself in relation to the universe, and tune in to your thoughts in a meditative way that's not often possible, with all the distractions of modern life.

How will we preserve what's left of our natural heritage, for future generations? Please look into joining one of the environmental groups I have listed on the sidebar of this page, or one of the many others concerned with Earth stewardship, to make your voice heard!

  1. Lynda, I really like this photo. Wish sometimes I can look out the window and see something like that, but then I wish for mountains and rivers, etc. This is really nice photo, thanks for sharing.

  2. I'm glad you like it, Anna. We're in a beautiful place and I'm sure I am seeing things that are holy. If people moved about in nature more, I think we would all be more fulfilled and societies would be less warlike!

  3. Lynda, My goodness what a breathtaking photo! The reflection on the water is spectacular! I loved the post that accompanies the photo. We will save these lovely scenes for future generations by having a sense of stewardship and then sharing it with the talents we have, just as you have done in this post. 5. Cindy,

Thanks for stopping by! I just read your newest post on your "Creativity" blog. It's a wonderful post and collection of photos! We ALL need to slow down, in order to see what's around us! I'm glad those crabs surfaced for your camera! Tidal pools are just amazing. I look forward to reading more about your experiences with nature. One day when you have time, you might want to read my article at Creativity Portal website on "thinking small." I'm sure you will relate.

  7. Lynda, I really enjoyed your newest article! Thank you for sharing your beautiful photo of your lake at dusk with everyone!!! It is simply beautiful! What you said about solitude is how I feel whenever we are in the mountains! Words cannot begin to describe the awesome beauty and mystery of the Blue Ridge Mountains and same goes with describing the sunset upon your lake! There are just not enough words to describe something you feel within your heart and soul! Still... your words are so descriptive and beautifully said! It makes one "feel" they are actually there, only if it is... that place within the heart and soul! You ought to start writing again!!! So many could benefit from your wisdom and insight!
