The Blaze of Autumn

I'm posting these two shots to celebrate the beauty of autumn. It's my favorite season. Crisp air, blue skies, brilliant foliage, the bounty of harvest.... To me, it's a time for joy. I don't see it as a demise or even quieting of nature, but just as a pause before winter's hush and the inevitable explosion of new life in the spring. What season do you most enjoy?

The images are "Shards and Needles" and "Burnished Leaves and Blueberries." The blueberries in the photo are the wild kind that bears like, and they were submerged in a puddle atop a granite rock in a river in New Hampshire. Prints of both are available at http://www.lyndalehmann.com/

  3. Hello Lynda,

    It's so nice to meet you. Thanks for dropping by my blog today.

    These photos are lovely and I especially enjoy looking at the top one, at the little bit of blue in among the gold. Color does stimulate me so much that I am especially fond of Autumn. But that special green in Spring also makes my heart sing. And, of course, the white in winter (not too much of it in Arkansas, unfortunately, but it's a pleasure when it comes, that I enjoy it immensely. And I can't go without mentioning that summer offers some pleasures too, though not nearly as the other seasons since it's unmercifully hot here much of the time.

  4. It's my favorite season too. I really like the photos, especially the first one, a contrast between berries and the brownish leaves. Excellent. Anna :)

  6. hi, I spotted your comment on the MaX Files, so glad you visited because I LOVE your work, and am delighted to find your blog, I will definitely be back. I also enjoyed your article on power. For me art is almost a schitzo thing... on the one hand an expression of joy as i connect with beauty, colour form, and on the other a platform to express some of the inner turmoil that results from living in an unusually violent place.

  7. Hi Lynda;

    The photography and paintings you have done are absolutely stunning. I took a tour of the gallery site and you have some very compelling prints. (I seem to have this thing with windows, lol - 'Overgrown' caught my eye)

    You are a very gifted lady!

    Take care;
    Anna

  8. Hi Annie! It's nice to meet you, too. Isn't it wonderful that we have such variety in the seasons, with such different characteristics of each. It adds such spice to life, as we witness the beautiful changes....

  9. Hi Anna,

    I love windows too, because they are the connection between the seen and the unseen, and they hint at mystery. I have a draft that I'll soon post with arches, doorways, balconies, and windows. I think you might enjoy that one when it comes 'round.

    Thanks for your very kind words. It's nice to meet you! I hope you have a fulfilling and creative day.

  11. Suzi-k,

    Even though I do not live in a particularly violent part of the world, at least not in my particular area, I can relate to your comment.

    The joy and reverence I feel when I do art, contrasts sharply with my painful awareness of violence and human misery all over the world.

    It's nice to meet you. May we have peace.

  13. Thanks, KML! I think I forgot to mention that those leaves and the blueberries are submerged on top of a rock, in the crystal clear water running out of the mountains, making the autumn colors even more vivid.

    Thanks for stopping by! :-)
