Snowflake, Lace, Kale

I started to balance my checkbook tonight, and somehow ended up blogging about this fine botanical specimen, instead. I told you: I'm addicted to blogging! (And to photography, of course...)

This magnificent ornamental kale reflects the wonderful organization of nature, and the idea of fractals, more specifically: the idea of the forms of the parts refecting the form of the whole, and vice versa. It's amazing how each cell of a plant or animal "knows" how to differentiate itself, knows what it "wants to be," in a sense. And it certainly is a visual treat, as well! Image and text c Lynda Lehmann.

You can purchase this image matted at my www.lyndalehmann.com site. My signature will be on the mat, not directly on the print. Or you can purchase it at my Imagekind gallery--plain, matted, or framed. The link is on my home page. For poster prints, you can try my Artist Rising Gallery, also listed on my home page.

  11. Beautiful "cauliflower" - I were told they are used for "sprucing" up borders of flowerbeds etc when I posted a similar picture.

Fractals are a fascinating subject lots of good books on that.

Thank you for a nice comment!

  17. Carol, thank you for your offer. After my show, which is in two weeks, I'm going to find by "HTML for Dummies" book. I know I have it somewhere in this house, and it's time to find it and open it! Don't want to be doing these sloppy posts where site names are not anchored, etc. It's too bad I'm in mentalpause--I don't know how fast I can learn anything technical, especially when I'm preoccupied!

  27. Anna, I've eaten green kale quite often--it's packed with good nutrients--but I've never eaten winter kale. It's my guess that you can, but don't take my word for it.

Hope you are having a fine week, Anna!

  31. You've shown me kale in ways I've never seen it before, and in doing so have shown me to find great beauty in all things. The beauty has always been there... it's up to us to find and appreciate it.

    Beautiful photo.

Best of luck with your show!!
