Last Light: A Spiritual Twilight

An inspiring and incredibly beautiful sunset, seen from the middle of a lake in southern Maine, near Sebago Lake. Image c Lynda Lehmann.

I haven't had much time to post or make the rounds this past six weeks, but hope to make up for lost time! I'll be starting a series of posts called "Forest Views & Roadside Ramblings," just as soon as I can get around to it. I hope you're all having a great summer!

  2. superb photo Lynda...
the lake looks like our Lake Macquarie over here....
I find that each sunset is different and it pays to have the camera nearby (permanently)
were you in a boat when you took this ??

  7. Lynda:

Beautiful image. The lake is so bright. Amazing. Good work.

If you could imagine the water being replaced with a dry lake bed, the scene would look like an early morning shot of Death Valley. It's beautiful. I used to get up just before sunrise to watch the sun come up. Of course, the temperature in DV was slightly different from Maine's temperature - even early morning.

    Happy trails.

  9. Cindy, I'm glad you're having a good summer. Ours is going well, but the work in front of us is overwhelming! At least I can get out with my camera once in awhile.

But my PC problems are getting me down: this laptop is so slow that I'm wasting a lot of time waiting for things to load! Makes it difficult to maintain my sites and be active with blogging!

  10. Hi Kim,

How was your week "off" from blogging?

Yes, we went out in a boat just to catch the sunset, which was much more gorgeous than it looks in a small photo! It's amazing then that huge, dramatic sky is all around you!

  12. Corinne, I'm glad you like it. Sorry I haven't been around; just can't seem to function well here on this slow PC, even with our new higher speed connection.

  14. Hello Angela,

I miss seeing you and everyone else at AW, but that has had to go by the wayside, for now.

I hope all is well with you and yours, and you're having time to make art!

  15. Swubird, I've never been to Death Valley, but I'd imagine you can catch some great sunsets there.

Since I recoil from extreme heat, I think I'll stay away! I have family in Arizona, and I'll probably never go there during the summer. Hot air makes it hard to breathe--makes me feel as if I'm choking.

I'd rather be cold, since I can just put on more clothes in that situation.

Thanks for stopping by. I bet I've missed some good stories on your blog. I'm comin' over!

  16. Sandy, I understand that, for sure. Sometimes I fear we're losing quality in the blogosphere by feeling we have to try out all the new gadgets, widgets, and campaigns to build readership.

I think it's more important to just communicate with each other. More sharing, less competition!

  17. Kathy, thanks. Like you, I greet each day with thoughts of photo-ops.

Hope you are enjoying your summer as well, and having some time to shoot!

  19. Kia ora Lynda,
Love the those dramatic sunsets. They make me long for the Great Lakes. Glad you are enjoying summer as it is winter here, and stormy at the moment! Still was able to spend 5 days in the mountains so life is good. Kia ora.

  23. Your Photo is poetry inspiring.
I like to match up the words with the scenes that inspire them.
Guess I'll have to buy a copy?

  24. Hi Lynda!

Such a fantastic photograph!!! I absolutely loved; did you work on it, or is it natural? Either way it is amazing!

I am having a nice summer, thanks! And how about you?

    I miss you, dear :D!

    Cheers
