Today's Photo: Red Glory

Red Glory - Image c Lynda Lehmann

The tulip shows her glory in the curve and sweep of her petals, and exuberant crimson. She reaches towards the light in awesome grace, releasing life force into the wind on her tiny pollen spores. She teaches us to regard grace and beauty with both passion and respect.

  4. Lynda,
When I saw the title of the post "Red Glory"...I had to visit to see it and it was well worth the trip! Beautiful colors and clarity.

By the way, I also loved your photo of the lake on PPP the other day.

  5. ROBB - You too, Robb, have a lovely day, and some time for wandering--even if it's just close by.

MARGARET - I'm always torn about whether to paint flowers. Somehow the light-as-air, gossamer quality would escape me, and the overall airiness. Well, maybe in watercolors.... :)

  6. JANICE - You are all about grace, Janice. It comes forth in your writing, whenever you post.

  8. Dear Lynda,
I always think - ah, nay, tulips are much too ordinary to be photographed - but then I am yet again overwhelmed by their grace, intense colours and simply beauty and take another photo or two - LOL.
    Isn't this funny???

Wish you many nice views again!!
    Warm regards, Petra

  14. Lynda, I'm coming late to comments, but have visited often as tulips, and such a gorgeous photo of one, make me smile, every time. Spring. It's here.

  15. PETRA - I can relate! I often shun tulips because they seem so "common," and much less graceful and exotic than, say, irises or lilies. But as you've pointed out, they have the ability to surprise us with their simple elegance!

I hope you are enjoying your spring, as well, and finding time to carry your camera on walks.

  16. BOYD - I'm glad you liked the tulip photo! I guess that's what we do, try to find beauty and bring it home for ourselves and others. We artists extol beauty as part of our daily routine. :)

Thanks for stopping by and for your kind words.

  17. KIM - I am often tempted to paint LARGE flowers, and may re-visit them in watercolor--AFTER my need to paint impasto abstracts exhausts itself.

I've always looked at flowers as a kind of architecture, and find their many forms, just fascinating.

  18. LANA - It's so true that flowers are absolutely velvety, something like butterfly wings. And the patterns and colors of both, are beautiful!

  19. CONDA - Don't worry about coming late. That happens to all of us.

Flowers make me smile, too. I guess it's pretty universal. I often wonder about the universal perception of beauty, and how it's ingrained in us, and across cultures.

Spring is here but it was summer yesterday, at 93!!
