ABOUT THIS BLOG

Peripheral Vision combines my nature photography, Abstract Expressionist paintings, and digital art, with ideas about life, creative process, and preserving our planet. I'm interested in the spiritual aspect of making art and how it reflects our connection to nature.

Consciousness

I've long had a fascination with consciousness. The idea of consciousness includes concepts like ideation, mindset, attitude, memory, mindfulness, conceptualization, creativity. One can go on and on adding aspects and dimensions to any description of consciousness, and that is precisely why it fascinates me. The human experience is so unlimited and multi-dimensional, as to appear infinite. The older I get, the more I become intrigued both by my own creative drive and by the creative proclivities of people around me. Our consciousness, both individually and collectively as an evolving species, is something to celebrate!

Working with my husband on the house these past weeks, has me painting moldings and doors in my sleep! Thank goodness I can squeeze in an hour or so in the evenings, to produce some digital art. The creative act expands my mind and releases me from the ties to everyday activities, which can get pretty repetitive.

I hope you find these images to be contemplative or meditative, or at least engaging. My favorite is "Quixotic Rainbows." I enjoy the colors and the idea of patches of rainbows, moving through time. And I like the spatial relationships in this one. Which do you like the best, if any?

Gorgeous, and all three, contemplative, meditative and engaging, Lynda! And consciousness...well, since I did a "group creative" endeavor, I've been thinking about the whole "group consciousness" thing. Which is a huge subject.

Those are so lovely. They captivate the mind with a symphony of color and grace.

I love Balancing Act and Quixotic Rainbows. These attract my attention quite well. Hope all is well. Good night~

"Play Therapy" of sorts, eh? As I've said, I can really sympathize on the house building subject. Seems like when you spend an inordinate amount of time doing some task you're not used to, that it tends to keep running in your head even after you quit. The bottom one, "Consciousness" is my fave... very interesting.

CONDA - Yes, "consciousness" sure is a large subject, and fascinating to muse on. We ARE our states of mind! Individually and collectively, although they're a little different, thank goodness... in most cases, that is! There's always the zealot who can brainwash "the masses'....

LAURIE - Thank you for your very nice compliment! I'm glad you like them!

MICHELLE - Thanks for coming by, and sharing your perception with me. I like "Balancing Act" too, and am sorry I didn't make it at a higher resolution! The file is too small to make a decent-sized print!

MARK - I love to play, and it sure is therapeutic to play--in any vein. Making abstract art works well for me; it's fun and always an adventure.

The house is coming along, but we're tired of being consumed by the work. But it WILL get done.

Hope all is well, over your way.

NORVAL - Thank you! Nice to see you!

ANGELA - Thank you, my dear, and thanks for stopping by! I'm glad our paths crossed on ArtWanted this week, too!

Hugs to you.

LORRAINE - Thank you for coming by and commenting on my post!

ROBB - Being called a "teacher" is an honor, especially by folks who are very aware and listen to a different drum, as you do. Thank you for the compliment.

I'll be over shortly to read your latest post.

Aroha!

BOB - I've no doubt that you can do stuff like this. Why not give it a whirl sometime when you're back from China, and not stealing out for night shots of the cosmos?

How are you doing?

Hey Lynda I definitely find them meditative and engaging. I like the Entity the most. Something about the colors I guess. But the second and the third one, are very interesting, and work my mind too. Hope your house renovations are going well. Anna :)
