All in the Same Place

Touch of Autumn - Image c Lynda Lehmann

Idyllic - Image c Lynda Lehmann

Here are three views of trees leaning over a lake in southern Maine, taken a week before the onset of autumn. They protrude from the fertile bank within mere feet of each other, practically at the same point. Each tree is different, in species, form, and the texture and color of its bark and foliage. Yet each is the same: leaning for sun and sustenance over the shallows in the fading afternoon light.

Lush with life, resplendent in diversity, our planet sings the songs of its seasons.

What are some of your favorite sights, in autumn?

  2. Lynda they are just wonderful!! You are so lucky. I know you are heading into prime shoot season up there.

We have had rain every single day for a week now. I am praying for sunshine so I too can get out and get some decent shots.

I am digging at the bottom of my barrel right now.

Oh I can't wait for the next few weeks when the colors are really rolling up there!!

    Big big hugs,

  4. What are some of your favorite sights, in autumn? A: Watching the leaves turn crimson red as the bowerbirds touch up their nests with our blue pegs. Oh! What a sight!

  5. Hi Lynda,

    How are you, darling? :D

    My, my, my...such magical trees!
Yep, Autumn is here (finally...cause this year it was so hot here, that I began begging for autumn lol lol)! And it is such a delightful season (one of my favourites, along with Spring).

"What are some of your favourite sights, in autumn?" - the golden leaves on the floor of a long avenue, forming a fluffy mat (is there anything more beautiful?).

Lynda, my darling, I hope all is well with you!

    Cheers

  6. Beautiful captures Lynda. Autumn is such a wonderful time of year - I love when the beech tree turns to a fiery amber-orange!

  7. I love the touch of autumn--that happens here, still warm/hot days but cool nights and then there's that one leaf...

  8. Trees in all their guises are my favourite part of autumn. I love pin cherry in particular for its exquisite colour display. I also love to see and hear the leaves on the ground. When you combine this with the cool air it produces my favouite time of year. Beautiful photos.

  9. Hi Lynda! You asked about my art classes. I didn't get to sign up this go round.

I purchased Photoshop today and I have a photography class starting next month. So both time and money are very limited.

But, you did cause a happening. I'll leave it up to you and everyone else to decide if it was a good thing or not.

I hope you get a chance to drop by. I found these, scanned them and this is my first time ever to show them to anyone other than family!!

    Big hugs!!

  10. Great photos.
I love the way the light changes in autumn, so even when the days remain hot, you know the seasons are changing.
Also, had to stop for a squirrel rushing across the street, acorn in mouth, today. Another fun sign of autumn.

  12. Kia ora Lynda,
It is sort of hard here in the Southern Hemisphere to think of autumn as we emerge from our long chilly winter. Yet I can always cast my mind back to my home and the turning colours and earthy smells of Wisconsin.

    Robb

  15. Absolutely breathtaking! I love trees! They always make me wonder what they've been around to see. It amazes me to think that they start off as just a little seed and grow into something so big and beautiful! These are perfect just like people trees have different colors etc. and they are just as beautiful as ever!Thank you for putting that in a photo and sharing it with us! *HUGS*

  16. MICHELLE - The sun's warmth is fading fast and soon we'll be shivering in our shoes again. That's why to me, autumn is such a nostalgic time, as we want so desperately to hang on to the light and that precious warmth!

DEBRA - Yes, trees gesturing in sunlight ARE lovely....

JACKIE - Thank you for all your warmth and generosity and being such a good blogging friend. I think of you often.... :)

  17. ANNE - Thank you! Nice to see your smiling face, even if your brother DID take the photo, lol...

  18. PETER - "bowerbirds" and "blue pegs"? Where can I see a picture of this? Are blue pegs something they pick off your house?

Did you start your renovation yet, Peter?

  19. MAX - My dear Max, I am missing you and have fallen so far behind on all my art and blogging and site work.

Please bear with me as I try to regain some kind of schedule that isn't related to household refurbishing and construction. It has all but taken over my life.

Our course, I have moments filled with stars and lapping water and the scent of pine, so I can't REALLY complain wholeheartedly.

I hope you are having a fine season and I agree with you about the leaves on the boulevard!

  20. JANICE - You have mostly boreal forest up there where you are, right?

I didn't know that beech trees grow that far north! They ARE beautiful, though....

  21. SASHA - I'm glad you liked them!

CONDA - Just apt for a poet, you look for that one crimson leaf!

Me too... And then the multicolor crescendo, later on. It went into the 30s here last night, so we should be getting some dramatic changes very soon. :)

  22. MARGARET - I have missed seeing you and have to get over for a visit. How have you been?

I don't know the pin cherry but I'm sure it's beautiful. Fall has always been my favorite season, I think. I usually have a lot of energy and feel more "robust" than in other seasons...

  23. KATHY - Now that you mention it, a chipmunk ran past me yesterday, right by our door, so close to my ankle that I could hear and feel a little rush of air. No doubt he was scurrying to bury an acorn in his nest in our retaining wall...

  24. KIM - Thank you for your good wishes. The move is accomplished, but still so much work to do and I'm way behind on everything else. All in due time, I guess.

I hope you are feeling great this week, Kim! Write if you have time, and let me know how you're doing.

  25. ROBB - In your NZ autumn, do you have the same kind of color changes that you remember from Wisconsin?

I bet NZ is gorgeous in any season. Just wondering how hot the summers get... ?

KRIZ - Good to see you, and thanks for stopping by. :)

LANA - I guess there are lovely places all over this country and the world. We are certainly lucky when we feel connected and can partake of them...

  26. DOM - It's good to see you, too. I hope all is well in your beautiful and mysterious world of fractals. I will have to come visit...

ANGELA - I guess we all like trees not only for their strength, enduring-ness and visual splendor, but also because they offer so many levels of metaphor!

Hope you are feeling well and no headaches. xxxxx

  27. Lynda,

I miss you too, but I fully understand the phase you are going through - so do not worry; I will always be here :D!

The scent of pine is divine: I love it! So yes, you cannot complain wholeheartedly ;).

  30. Peter, thanks! This looks just like what we call a "crow."

I'm glad you're starting your bathroom! We just finished the inside of our house, but still have decks, lanterns(outside) and other finishing.

Have fun and I hope it turns out great for you!
