Sounds of Water

This short video presents sounds heard at the beach. First you will have to forbear the roar of a boat engine. But after that you will hear footsteps fading away on the spongy sand, the cries of seagulls and the sensuous, soothing sounds of flowing water. You can hear the peaceful sounds of children playing on nearby swings, their voices drifting in the background.

And of course, you can enjoy the patterns the water makes as it flows in from the open bay onto the beach, or over rocks and seashells. At one point, you can see the water flowing in an almost regular, diamond pattern, a configuration created by its deflection off the natural objects in its path. This makes me think of all the transferable and transforming energies in the universe, and patterns of physics, and those found in fractals....

You may notice at times, that the water seems to be bubbling out of the ground, perhaps from underground springs as much as from local drainage patterns.

I love to watch the ribbons of sunlight reflected on the water's undulating surface, and changes in the texture and rhythm of the waves.

I hope you enjoy my little nature video. One day I'll make another version with better editing! At present, I haven't the slightest command of my video editing software, but I wasn't going to let that stop me from sharing a bit of nature's beauty.

  1. Nice, Lynda! The water is so soothing. I had forgotten how much I love this blog of yours...as I haven't visited in awhile. I'm glad I did.

  2. Lynda thanks for sharing, and the reminder of my trip to Italy, I will never forget the sounds of the ocean which I heard for the first time. Thanks for sharing your video, I often don't understand when people wear head sets to listen to their ipods, lol. Anna :)

  4. Hey Lynda,

Beautiful video: I thoroughly enjoyed it :D!
I loved the sounds of the water (they were so relaxing that I just had to close my eyes and let my soul float): thank you for this gift!

I did find the little springs to be rather delightful...it reminded me of our mind (how it can keep bubbling great fertile ideas).

You have a lovely voice (I know I have probably said this, but I must say it again), you should be the voice of meditation CD's...

    Cheers

  5. BARBARA - How are you? Are you finished with your project abroad? Nice to see you. I have to come over and see what you're up to, these days...

    Happy Thanksgiving!

  6. DEBRA - Good to see you, too! I hope you find time to stitch during the busy holiday season. :)

  7. ANNA - I would rather listen to nature when I'm out in nature. Music is for when I'm doing housework or some other boring task. :)

Hope all is well with you and yours. As for the vaccine issue, I really don't know what the answer is. I know two people whose parents did not believe in the polio vaccine, and they got it and have lasting damage from it.

  9. MAX - My dearest Max, how are you? Fully past the flu?

We haven't gotten it yet, thankfully.

What you just said made me laugh! I always hated my voice, starting from kindergarten when we had to stand up and sing "do re mi...." in front of the class. Perhaps I should consider fighting the effect of that grade-school trauma, in which the whole group laughed with glee at my clumsy, squeaking attempt?

Hope you are well, my dear.

LOL I am glad I made you laugh, but I meant it. Girl, you can forget that trauma because your voice turned out to be beautiful (at least when speaking) :D!

    Cheers and xxx

  11. music to the ears. i don't think there's a song that's been made which could outdo the sounds of water, nature. i enjoyed this video as much for the sounds of water as the start of your video poem. beautiful. hope all is well.
