Cascade

Cascade - Image c 2010 Lynda Lehmann Painting and Photography

Autumn leaves ready to fall create a cascade of color, suspended and flapping in the wind like a curtain.

Natural beauty is a transient state, peaking in its majesty for a short time before changing form and entering a new phase of life cycle that may, perhaps, be equally captivating.

Because beauty is fleeting, like life itself, it becomes all the more precious and poignant.  Life is both precious and poignant, and so we must be thankful for our short domain on Earth.

To proceed without being mindful of the wonders in life and our individual blessings as well, is to be out of touch and perhaps even arrogant.  I think of friends whose lives have been taken too early, and I know that I must rejoice and be grateful for the gift of every day.

  1. Kia ora Lynda,
Beautifully stated and so relevant. We akll just need to slow down and observe the natural world. To reconnect with the primal appreciation and rhythms we are so quickly burying under the pursuit of what we are told is the way to success and wealth. When we leave here we are no different than the beautiful fluttering leaf dropping to the earth to be used again. Kia kaha.

  2. How true, Robb. I think Egoism and Greed are the prime motivators today. We have forgotten that we are "of the Earth" and of each other, as well.

  3. Hi Lynda,

I grasped your words so well: it is incredible how there seem to be people who can walk around minding their own belly-button...shocking. I praise the Lord, everyday, for not being like that and for minding my human-fellow.

I came in search of that poem you spoke of in my blog (you know I love your writing); but I guess it is not for the public eye yet ;).

Have a fabulous weekend, darling! :D

    Cheers

  5. "...rejoice and be grateful for the gift of every day." If only all of us could learn to live that way what a beautiful world it would be.

  6. MELODY - I agree! Instead we often focus on the cup-half-empty, instead of the cup-half-full, focusing on negatives instead of the bounty and joy at hand.
