Consciousness

Consciousness - c Lynda Lehmann 2009

I'm in the process of preparing a longer post, but thought I'd share one of my new digital paintings with you in the meantime. I will be able to post more in the coming weeks, I hope, and I can't wait to visit with you!

Just wondering: does this image evoke any particular thought, mood, or concept for you? I DO see what the title implies, but then, that's just me and you will have your own reaction.

Personally, I LOVE the freedom of digital art, and the "clean" process that doesn't involve paints and finishes, because I don't always have time for traditional brush and pigment painting. Both digital and real-time painting have their benefits, and one of the perks of digital is that you don't have to involve your whole studio or house in the process (the "aroma" of fresh paint DOES make it all the way to my kitchen, at times....)

  2. Yes, this image seems to conjure up a kind of spiritual feeling. Far eastern---maybe from India. Contemplative.

    Happy trails

  4. Kia ora Lynda,
In a way this reminds me of very small and minute patches of mosses and lichens on greywacke rock I looked at a few days ago high up in the mountains as I huddled out of the wind. The vibrancy, colour, and symmetry was just amazing.

  5. CONDA - It'll wake anyone up, as it's pretty intense!

SWUBIRD - It "feels" mantra-like to me, in spite of it's color intensity and fragmentation.

DAN - So good to see you! Thanks for coming by. I hope things are calming down for you, after your busy summer.

  6. ROBB - I've gotten to a place where often, everything reminds me of EVERYTHING, if you know what I mean. Nature repeats its textures, forms, and patterns on so many levels.

BTW, what is a "greywacke" rock? Is that a vernacular name for granite, perhaps?

I had such an intense nature experience this summer, I think it has changed me. I hope I can hold on to the feeling.

How is your hip, these days?

  8. It makes me think of very many people who are standing there blocking the light from a great bundle of energy that can not reach me and therefor is subdued. The people are stern and selfish and want to keep the light for themselves.

Maybe that says more about me than about your digital painting, but that's how I see it.

  9. It reminds me of neural activity. Love the colors & the geometry.

  10. The colors remind me of Asian art, and the image I had was of a blossom about to bloom, a tulip bud? The image also seems like a mosaic, ready to be tiled to the wall of a meditation room.
    Fascinating.

  11. Lynda happiness is the word that comes to my mind, may be it reminds me children at play when they are trying to hit the horse full with candies, you know the ones that you can get for the bday parties. Or the confetti from the wedding day. Anna :)
