Sunsets of the Heart

Clarity of Spirit - Image c Lynda Lehmann

Evening Enchantment - Image c Lynda Lehmann

What do you think of when you see a gorgeous sunset?  Do you feel joyous?  Or do you become a bit wistful, or maybe downright forlorn?  Maybe you feel regrets for the past or hopes for the future.  Or a nameless mix of strong emotions that you would not even try to identify....

For me the latter is the case.  So many attitudes, perceptions, and emotions seem to surface in the face of that glory: a brilliant, flaming sky that signifies the end of another day of the life cycle.  It's hard to separate or put into words what I'm thinking or feeling.  Yet I'm grateful for the inspiration and catharsis of it.

I will think of all my blogging friends when I bear witness to the sunset tonight, and wish for each of you to experience much beauty and peace in your lives.

  1. I feel calmness Lynda, and as I was reading other blog, for me that would be a big think-tank, just the right setting for some good thinking :). Thanks for the inspirations, beautiful image and the words. Hope all is well otherwise. Always sending hugs from Matthew. The other day when he wanted hug he said: hug it, lol, it reminded me the story you told me about your daughters, lol. But lately he calls him self 'you'. Thanks for the wishes, Anna :)

  2. Kia ora Lynda,
When I am in the mountains sunsets mostly make feel a bit melancholic - not in a bad way, just a quiet reflective peacefulness that I am even such a place. The sun rise always fills me with joy and anticipation of another day in such a place. Kia kaha.

  3. I enjoy the feeling of peace and solitude when I witness these gorgeous sunsets. I live on an island and I love watching the sun seem to sink into the sea every night and rise from it every morning. Thanks for sharing your lovely photos and thoughts with us. :)

  7. I'm a sunset-aholic, if there is such a thing. For me they're free beauty & most people don't even notice them. I think the world would be a different place if they did.

  8. Hey Lynda,

When I see a sunset I think of Love and Home - I can't help it. I feel extremely joyous and nostalgic at the same time.

You are so generous, darling: thank you for thinking of us! I wish you much peace and all the love in the world :D.

Now, about your pics: every time I drop by I am confronted with these marvellous images that bring peace to my soul (I kid you not), so thank you and keep up the great job.

    God Bless you!

    Cheers

  9. Lynda, Forlorn is what I feel, esp when the sky turns that orangish pink. Brings in some wistful memories that I can not seem to point my fingers at.. yet, I know they are there. Like Deja vu.
